Santiago Estates and Los Ranchitos are luxury communities of custom homes in Temecula, California. These semi-rural communities are only one-and-a-half miles from Interstate 15 for easy access to shopping and dining in Temecula and neighboring cities in Riverside County. The master-planned communities are located east of highway 79 between Ynez and Santa Margarita Road, south of Santiago Road.

Temecula has a population of 110,000, according to the 2020 census. It is a growing area in Southern California for people who want to enjoy a country lifestyle. Homes in this community are generally on two acres in both Santiago Estates and Los Ranchitos. The topography features a gentle slope.  Some  homes are located at the top of winding picturesque roads that offer views of the entire Temecula Valley.
Santiago Estates are in a private community designed with open green space. Homes are at least 5,000 square feet in size on two or three acres. The community also has a special center with a pool and clubhouse. Many of the homes have four and five bedrooms and four bathrooms. They may also include swimming pools and spas, guest houses and tennis courts.
Los Ranchitos, (little ranches) features equestrian properties on large lots up to five acres. Residents do not have streetlights, curbs, or gutters in keeping with the rural lifestyle. Several homes have guest houses. Residents can keep horses on their property. Many of the properties have corrals, barns, and tack rooms.
Architecture is usually southwestern design. Homes feature gourmet kitchens, multi-car garages, and extensive fencing around the property.

Local Lifestyle

The lifestyle in these private communities provides an escape from the fast pace of Southern California. This is quiet country living with access to the cities in Riverside, San Bernardino and Los Angeles counties. It is relaxed with the emphasis on green space and outdoor recreation.
Homeowners in these communities have easy access to golf courses, riding clubs and other activities. Temecula Creek Golf Club and Redhawk Golf Course are the main golf clubs in the area. This is a horse-friendly community. The Hanover Saddle Club features riding lessons and horse show events.

Shopping and Dining

Temecula offers excellent shopping and dining at the Promenade Temecula with three department stores, boutique shops, and a Certified Farmers Market every Wednesday.
The Temecula Town Center offers chain food stores and other service. 
The Bluewater Grill (26700 Ynez Court 951-308-2722) is the place for fresh seafood. Temecula is only 22 miles from the coast and this kitchen offer fresh catch along with a selection of local wines and its own draft beers.
The Cork Fire Kitchen at Temecula Creek Inn at 44501 Rainbow Canyon Road (888-976-3404) has seasonal specialties. The menu changes frequently based on the freshest foods available. This award-winning restaurant serves brunch and dinners with a selection of local wines.
The Goat and Vine (41923 2nd St 951-695-5600) is the place to go for pizza and vino. This popular stone hearth kitchen features creative sandwiches and desserts as well.

Things to Do

Visiting the local wineries is a popular pastime for visitors as well as residents. Grapes for wine were grown in this valley beginning in 1820. More modern wine production began in the 1960s. Today, there are more than 30 wineries that offer visitors a variety of blends from local and imported vineyards. Wine tours are available.
The city has an annual Art and Street Painting Festival each September. This event allows registered chalk artists to draw on city sidewalks. It is open to talented adults and children.


The Temecula Valley Unified School District has five elementary schools, two middle schools and two high schools. The district also has an alternative home school program.
Private schools include the Springs Charter Schools with elementary and secondary education. The University of California at Riverside is the major university in Riverside County.
