The Cork Fire Kitchen at Temecula Creek Inn at 44501 Rainbow Canyon Road (888-976-3404) has seasonal specialties. The menu changes frequently based on the freshest foods available. This award-winning restaurant serves brunch and dinners with a selection of local wines.
 
The Goat and Vine (41923 2nd St 951-695-5600) is the place to go for pizza and vino. This popular stone hearth kitchen features creative sandwiches and desserts as well.
 

Things to Do

Visiting the local wineries is a popular pastime for visitors as well as residents. Grapes for wine were grown in this valley beginning in 1820. More modern wine production began in the 1960s. Today, there are more than 30 wineries that offer visitors a variety of blends from local and imported vineyards. Wine tours are available.
 
The city has an annual Art and Street Painting Festival each September. This event allows registered chalk artists to draw on city sidewalks. It is open to talented adults and children.
 

Schools

The Temecula Valley Unified School District has five elementary schools, two middle schools and two high schools. The district also has an alternative home school program.
 
Private schools include the Springs Charter Schools with elementary and secondary education. The University of California at Riverside is the major university in Riverside County.
